This phenomenal Black stallion is our Senior Herd Sire and one that will greatly increase the quality of our bloodstock.
Colonel J has one of the most blue-blooded pedigrees in the Industry being not only a son of the great *Aladdinn ( a stallion
who is noted for his sons and has sired FOUR National Champion Stallions) but out of the top producer, Spinning Song (also
the dam of several Varian broodmares like Sweet Illusion V- Class A Halter Champion as well as the dam of Star of
Fame V, Sweet Inspiration V - a Top Ten Canadian National Halter Champion Mare and the granddam of Sundance Kid V ).
Spinning Song was the first born of the Aristocrat Mare, Moska, making her a maternal sister to the two time US
National Top Ten stallion Moonstone Bey V, Mosketan V a Canadian National Champion AAO, Mexico V a Regional Halter and
Western Pleasure Champion, as well as Mona Lisa V who was both a East Coast Champion Mare as well as a movie star ! Spinning
Song's sire was Bask who needs no introduction! Moska's sire was the immortal Khemosabi and her dam was the Bay Abi daughter
Baychatka (who is also the dam of Pavane V, dam of Pioneer V and Hucks Premier V). Baychatka in turn was out of *Bachantka
one of the three Pure Polish mares imported by Shelia Varian and a fifteen sixteenths sister to Bask as her dam was the
great Balalajka. In summing it all up we find that thirteen of the sixteen horses in the first three generations of Colonel
J's pedigree are either National Champions themselves or producers of National Champions. With a pedigree like this all we
can say is "Wow!"
Colonel J is everything his pedigree says he should be- tall, typey, athletic and he has a wonderful disposition. He
has a classic head with huge eyes and small tight ears. He has a long hooky neck, long sloped shoulder and poweful hindquarters
with a deep hip and level topline. He has outstanding movement and it's not hard to see why his foals excel in the Performance field-
if you are looking to breed beautiful Sport Horses look no further!
Colonel J has a very kind disposition and shows great intelligence. He is level headed and a joy to work with- even
gladly giving the little ones pony rides! We have heard time and time again that he passes this on.
Colonel J was only shown lightly (but succesfully) in Stallion Halter and Get of Sire. He was to be shown under saddle
as well but a leg injury ended all hope of future showing. Which is a real shame as he had the real makings of a Performance
champion- but he has instead proven himself through his get.
Colonel J is a proven sire of versatile offspring- in that they have defied fashion and WIN in BOTH halter and performance,
exactly what we had been searching for! Only a small percentage (22 of 78) of Colonel J's offspring have been shown and almost
all of them have multiple wins and Championships in both Halter and Performance- many in both! They have exceled in everything
from Working Cow Horse, Reining, Trail, Hunter, Dressage and Endurance. Some of his champion offspring include Farenheit
VV, Silencer VV, Silverado J IHR, Khalabasque, and Shalladdinn Bey. His daughters are proving to be top producers as well.
Although the Colonel is black he has never really been utilized in a black breeding program. He is not homozygous black
but has produced over 60 % blacks and bays (possibly more as he has several grey offspring). He is a proven filly producer
as well. The Colonel has been in Canada and unfortunatley has only produced Half Arabs in the last few years.
He is still fertile but we will no longer be standing him at public stud. Any prior commitments we have made will be
honored but no new contracts will be given. We must travel quite a distance for CJ to be collected and due to our very warm
weather in the spring and summer lately it's just too much for him at his age. We apologize but his health and well being
need to come first. Exceptions may be made, please contact us.
